Today starts off the first official Question Friday.  Every Friday, The Hidden Chest will be proposing a new question for you, The Gamer, to answer.  This week’s question is for the Animal Crossing fans out there:

What do you do when you catch a new fish?

Do you graciously donate it to the town museum, do you keep it for a pet, or do you sell it to Nook for some quick Bells?  Most of the time this is an easy decision to make if you catch a pretty common fish; you can do whatever you want because you’ll most likely catch the same fish again. But what if it’s really rare?

Personally, I used to be a hardcore donator.  No matter how much I knew the fish would go for, I’d immediately give it to Blathers.  More recently, however, I realized that for all the work it takes to fill up the museum, it isn’t quite worth the museum model.  I’ve started selling all my catches to Nook, because Bells are more important to me (at least until I’ve completely payed off my house).  Once I’m no longer in debt, I’ll gladly start donating again.

So what about you?

Nintendo has decided to do an interesting promotion for the new Kirby game, Kirby Mass Attack, for the DS.  This month, trucks will be visiting a few chosen cities to give out frozen fruit treats, while allowing fans to be able to play demos of Kirby Mass Attack.  The trucks will stop in New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Upper Kirby neighborhood of Houston.

Kirby Mass Attack is scheduled for release on September 19th.

Nintendo fans attending PAX at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle this year are in for some fun.  You will be able to play a handful of games before they launch, including The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii, and Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, and Kid Icarus: Uprising for the 3DS.  These games will all be playable on the main show floor.

As if that wasn’t enough, the third floor of the Nintendo Gaming Lounge will be dedicated to Kirby’s Return to Dream Land (Wii), Kirby Mass Effect (DS), and the 3DS application, Pokédex 3D.  You can celebrate by participating in Kirby and Pokédex 3D activities, such as eating pink Kirby cotton-candy, or scanning Pokémon AR Markers.

The second floor will be Dragon Quest themed and have the games Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 (DS) and Fortune Street (Wii) available to play, along with a Dragon Quest themed photo booth.

The icing on the cake (if PAX was a delicious baked good), however, is the Star Fox 64 3D tournament Nintendo is hosting from 7-10 PM on Saturday, August 27, on the second floor of the North Galleria. Sign ups for that will start Friday morning.

Nintendo Company announced that they will be hosting a 3DS trade show in Tokyo on September 13th.  Although Nintendo declined commenting on whether new games would be announced, analysts say that Nintendo needs something to keep up consumer enthusiasm since the 3DS price drop. The show will not be open to consumers.

Star Fox 64 3D for the Nintendo 3DS will be release September 9th, 2011 in North America and Europe, and September 15th in Australia.

Not only am I excited to play the classic N64 remake with new graphics and hand-held controls, but fighting my friends in multiplayer mode is going to be a blast!

For a week or so, rumors had been flying around about Retro Studios (the makers of the Metroid Prime series) working on a Donkey Kong game.  Well, Nintendo’s conference at E3 soon proved that rumor to be true with the announcement of Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii.

Donkey Kong’s banana horde has been stolen yet again; this time by animals on the island who are being controlled by evil Tikis.  With the help of Diddy, the Kongs set off together to travel the island and retrieve the bananas.

Retro Studios stays true to it’s name by sticking to the game’s roots and creating a classic 2D side scrolling quest, but with enhanced graphics and 3D environments that are sure to keep your eyes happy.

The Kongs travel all over the island; from the beach to volcanic caves, through the jungle and underwater.  The mine-cart levels and KONG letters are just two of the many features that Retro has given a great new look and feel.  This screenshot in particular promises hardcore gamers that this game will be just as excitingly challenging as it once was.

The game will also be multiplayer; Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong can each be controlled by a separate person.  Players can travel freely among the levels or stick together. Diddy lends his jet pack abilities to DK by flying them both through the air. Diddy can also jump onto DK’s back and roll around on him like a ball.

Donkey Kong Country Returns is scheduled to release this holiday season.

Outstanding. Phenomenal. Spectacular.

These three words are the best I can use to describe Nintendo’s conference at E3 today.  They not only met our expectations by releasing the title of the new Zelda game, Skyward Sword, and giving us further info about the Nintendo 3DS, but they surprised us with new games for the classic franchises like Donkey Kong Country Returns and Kirby’s Epic Yarn.  I can’t really go into everything right now in detail, but I’ll go ahead and post a list of what was announced today for those who don’t know.  And I’ll throw in some pictures to liven it up a bit.

A new Pokemon game has been announced for the DS!  Expected to come this year in Japan, the game will be in the core series (Red/Blue, Diamond/Pearl, etc) and will not be some lame spin off like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (which means no Thunder Yellow either).  And with a new core game must come a new generation of Pokemon!  Gotta catch ‘em all!
